Who We Are
We started Rainbow Roots Urban Farm as three friends trying to live healthier, fuller lives, together as a family!
One among us has fought depression for years and sought purpose and activity, leading to the introduction of our urban chicken flock. Another, driven by a love for creativity, eagerly infused the farm with handcrafted products, growing in the artistic endeavors that give creativity life. Lastly, one of us began a battle with health concerns and desired a shift towards cleaner eating habits, prompting the cultivation of fruits and vegetables and homemade baked goods within our urban landscape.
Our family is a non-traditional family, blended with five children, all of whom come from and resemble various parts of our world, creating a rainbow of skin colors that remind us daily of the reasons that we started this company… to demonstrate that being rooted in diversity, grounded by love, and nourishing our community can blend any group of people together into a strong bond and form a family.
Meet the Girls
Our little ladies, “The Girls”, were our first love within our Urban Farming venture… it started with little Beatrice, Gladys, Eleanor, Blanche, and Dorothea (Dottie). We have since added our new ladies to the flock, all of whom will be laying so very soon.
We have an assortment of egg colors coming this fall!
